About Myself

Name: Rachel Bass

I like: People, marzipan, Russia, Starbucks (it's all about the tea!), crunchy leaves, driving about in my little blue car (aka 'Flip'), Jesus - is that too many things to like? It's hard to choose - there's a lot of good stuff out there...

I dislike: The impostor that is commonly referred to as 'squash', the misuse of the cyrillic alphabet for stylistic purposes. Beans are not very nice either.

What I Do

I work with university Christian Unions in Manchester and Salford (University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Salford, Royal Northern College of Music).  Christian Unions are student-led mission teams operating at the very heart of the UK’s universities and colleges. Here's a little video link to explain it better.

Manchester has one of the biggest student populations in Europe (100,000ish), and probably less than 0.5% of those are committed followers of Jesus - the odds are discouraging; the need is immense. Essentially my job is to to train, equip and encourage Christian students to live and speak for Jesus, and to help get the gospel heard on our campuses - but most of all I would say that what I do is to remind students that God is amazing, that the gospel is mind-blowingly good news, and that God's words are LIFE!! It's challenging, but also very very exciting. If that weren't enough, I also get to lead teams of students on short-term oversees mission trips each summer, to fab places like Kazakhstan, Russia and this year, Moldova - Woop!

How You Can Help

Prayer - please drop me a line if you'd like to my newsletters.

Financially - Due to various factors, I need to raise my support levels over the course of this year. Again, please  if you would like more information.

Contacts - If you live near a CU, then I can probably find an opportunity for you to help - there's often a need for food to give away!!

Chatting -  Be my friend and remind me of how awesome, loving and faithful our God is!

MISSION PARTNERS

For me the discussions are the best part of The Plant meetings. You don't just have to take the sermon as given, you can question it and see why it is so.
