The Plant is an independent church. We do however have strong ties to other churches and denominations.
John Hindley and Phil Keymer, the two ministers of The Plant, have both been ordained in the Church of England and hold Permission to Officiate from the Bishop of Manchester. They are Associate Mission Partners with the Anglican mission agency Crosslinks.

The Plant is a member of the North West Partnership of evangelical churches.
A number of prominent Christian leaders have been willing to endorse The Plant by acting as our Board of Reference:
Andy Lines, general secretary of Crosslinks, says:
"I am delighted at the opportunity for Crosslinks to be associated with this gospel venture".
Chris Green, vice principal of Oak Hill Theological College in London, writes:
"I'm delighted to be on the Board of Reference for The Plant. This is a day for initiatives which are biblical and bold - and this is both. We'll pray that God gives growth, as he has promised."
Hugh Palmer, rector of All Souls, Langham Place in London comments:
"I think it's thrilling to try and reach out again to this huge student population. I'm sure we have to keep trying to spread the gospel through methods old and new. So, I'm excited to be associated with you."
Andy Hawthorne, director of The Message Trust, says:
"There's some fantastic things going on amongst students in our city but with the largest student population in Europe it is vital that more people commit themselves to presenting the gospel and the Church in a way that's accessible to students and new graduates. This is exactly what 'The Plant' will do and that's why I'm so happy to endorse their work."
